Building TechnicalDuties

Below are recommended technical duties that areexpected of a building technician. Other duties may be expected basedon situations.


  ComputerSetup

     
  • Set up new computer, plug it in and set up purchasedapplications and accessories.
  •  
  • Createnecessary accounts on computer.
  •  
  • Transferany files from old computer to new computer.
  •  
  • Setup printer(s).
  •  
  • Installdistrict email client and setup up email account ifnecessary.
  •  
  • Connect peripherals such asLCD projectors. scanners, digital camera and other instructionaltools.
  •  
  • Install and configure anypurchased software on computers.

TechnologyMaintenance

 
       
  • Run Systemupdates when appropriate.
  •    
  • Verify anti-virus software is installed and properlyconfigured
  •    
  • Assistusers with backup of their documents, ifneeded.
  •    
  • Troubleshootsystem problems using necessary tools andmethodologies.
  •    
  • Workwith district staff to create and maintain student and staff fileservices.
  •    
  • Keep trackof purchased software and hardware with district providedtools.
  •    
  • Re-installoperating system and applications using district approved tools whennecessary.
  •    
  • DiagnoseNetwork connectivity issues and work with the district to resolveissues.
  •    
  • Diagnose andrepair issues with printers, LCD projectors, peripherals using districtresources.       

       
  •    
  • Printer setup:Install printer drivers and IP addressprinting.
  •    
  • Initiatewarranty or out of warranty repair on districttechnology.
  •    
  • Handledisposal of unwanted technology.
  •

  • Districttraining resources and opportunities for staff on approvedapplications.
  •    
  • District approved Macintosh and Windows OperatingSystems.
  •    
  • Email:Lotus Notes Client install and Lotus Notes Webaccess.
  •    
  • InternetBrowsers.
  •    
  • Districtapproved approved instructionalapplications.
  •    
  • Nutrition Servicessystem.
  •    
  • ElementarySummary Reports:  Install, configure, customize, andbackup.
  •    
  • StudentEmail basics:  Password Lookup, login, servers, andattachments.
  •    
  • CampusBasics:  login, gradebook, reports, lesson planner,attendance, address labelexports.
  •    
  • MailMerge:  File Maker Pro, Microsoft Word, (template studentletter, address labels)
  •    
  • Parent Messaging systems, phone andweb.
  •    
  • Video RetrievalSystem:  phone or websystem.
  •    
  • ElectronicBulletin Boards.
  •    
  • Administrative systems such as FMS, iProcurement andPeoplesoft.
  •    
  • Websitebasics:  District CMS, create sections, items, lists,accounts, links, resources.
  •    
  • Online Learning Resources:  United Streaming, AtomicLearning, library catalog, online databases,etc.
  •    
  • Locate TechResources  TechTalk, Computer Trader, FAQ, Software Downloads,SIS help, TechHelp.
