Metronet Information Literacy Project In its second year, the SPPS Metronet Information Literacy Project is a collaborative effort between Saint Paul Public Schools and Metronet,
to implement the Minnesota Educational Media Organization Information
and Technology Literacy Standards. Teams comprised of ibrary media specialists and
teachers from six of the seven high schools will meet regularly
throughout the school year as they work together to incorporate the Research Process, use of Reliable Resources and Responsible Use of Information and Technology into their instruction. Metro State University and the
Saint Paul Public Libraries are also partners in this project. For more information: http://connect.spps.org/MILP Participant Goals Research Improve the ability of students and teachers to conduct effective research by using a process that includes the following 5 steps:
All participants will identify and use available, reliable resources whenever possible. This includes but is not limited to, electronic, human, and print. Collaboration will be common practice rather than theory. Responsible Use Promote understanding and practice responsible use of information and technology. Advise and assist teachers in the creation of plagiarism-proof assignments. Help all involved to approach ethical use in the spirit of good citizenship rather than compliance.
