  • AD
    • At sometime near in the future local accounts will be disabled
    • Network Applications  Working on them
    • Passwords 
      • Password policy
        • Change password every 90 days for both staff and students
        •  Cannot use the same one
        • Three characters this will change
        • Will be get a warning every day starting 15 days before expire
        • Client cannot change their password within 24 hours
        • Help desk can change passwords for staff
        • Building techs can change student passwords
    • Policies group policies for your groups and or management of labs.  Starting to create these but they are very user specific based on needs.  Contact the help desk to schedule time to work with them on creating policies
    • Also contact the AD group for creating shares
  • Online testing  Log on as a certain user and the software config and the  are now based on the a user.  Simple.  Migrating the servers to the head end
  • Process for requesting Administrative access to local computers
    • Sequence: End users should first contact the building tech.  Building tech will do the install.  If this does not work then call the help desk to do the install.  If that does not work the help desk will escalate it


  • Help desk presentation
    • Tips for techs but especially for your end users
    • Please provide as much detail as possible when calling on an issue
    • If you call back please remember that you might have to summarize the issue you are having again to a different tech
    • The techhelp system still works. Please use them we do use them.  
    • When calling the help we need clarity.  Please be specific when calling with an issue.  You also need to get info from the end user and translate that information into accurate info so we can act upon the issue
    • The help desk will become the single point of entry and communications for technical issues.  Instead of contacting district help desk route them through the help desk so they can be tracked and communicated to the end users
    • Write things down!  Document the issues so if they re occur you can resolve them.  We will also be working to create additional documentations
    • Be prepared.  That means having your computers up to date.  That means Casper Recon/VNC on your computers.  Software updates are run etc
    • By working together we will have the best district day ever

  • Websites
    • New District Design
    • Delete your section day tomorrow.  Again this happens eveyday after the building tech meeting
    • New design for the district
    • All departments will be migrating to this template.  Schools can request to migrate to this template and we will que them for the future
    • All sites will incorporate a top banner which will be the same for all schools
    • Standardization  Need to have these sections

      • calendar.html
      • search.html
      • sitemap.html
    • Check uphelp for this and other related help info
    • Every website should have a webmasters.  Here is the link to to add the webmaste to the site
    • There is an email list for webmasters.  If you want to be part of this email send a request to the help desk requesting it
    • Google Analytics is set up on all websites.  This tool allows you to track usage for your site
    • Guidelines are in the works
    • New version of urban planet coming.  Conversion will be done for us
  • Global Viewer  System that allows you to monitor ceiling mounted projectors in your building.  
    • Using
      • Connect to your network segment

      • Select your room and  then your projector  this allows you to quickly troubleshoot issues of inputs and status of the projector and remotely change it before having to troubleshoot it
    • Also you can schedule times such as turn off projectors at a certain time
    • If you need changes contact Rodney
    • Also has monitoring this allows you to send emails for things like filter cleaning
    • Also send a disconnect warning
    • There is a building view which is nice for controlling all of them at the same time
    • If you have a system then you will get an email from Rodney with instructions on how to access the system in your building
